Privacy Policy

The short version: SteadyCue processes your voice on your device. We don't record your audio, we don't sell your data, and we don't run ads. Your scripts are stored in your account and synced via Firebase. That's it.
Who we are
SteadyCue is developed and operated by SteadySoft Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at support@steadycue.com.
What data we collect
Account information: When you create an account, we store your email address and an encrypted password (for email/password accounts) or your Google account identifier (for Google Sign-In). This is handled by Firebase Authentication.
Scripts: The scripts you create, import, or paste into SteadyCue are stored locally on your device and, if you're signed in, synced to Firebase Firestore so they're accessible from the web companion and across devices.
Diagnostic telemetry: When you use voice tracking, SteadyCue collects anonymous performance data — match positions, scroll distances, and recognition restart counts. This data contains no audio recordings, no transcript of what you said, and no script content. It's used solely to improve voice tracking quality. Telemetry is uploaded to Firebase and associated with your user account.
Support requests: If you submit a support request through the app, your email address, issue description, and optionally a linked telemetry session are stored in Firebase to help us resolve your issue.
What we do NOT collect
Audio recordings: SteadyCue never records, stores, or transmits your voice audio. Speech recognition runs on your device using your platform's built-in speech service (Google's SpeechRecognizer on Android, Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer on iOS). Audio is processed locally and discarded.
Script content in telemetry: Voice tracking telemetry does not include the text of your scripts or transcripts of your speech.
Location data: SteadyCue does not access or store your location.
Contacts, photos, or files: SteadyCue does not access your contacts, photo library, or files beyond those you explicitly import via Google Drive or your device's file picker.
Speech recognition and your voice
SteadyCue uses your device's built-in speech recognition to match your spoken words to your script text. On Android, this uses Google's SpeechRecognizer service. On iOS, this uses Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer.
When your device is online, the speech recognition service may send audio to Google's or Apple's servers for processing, according to their respective privacy policies. When offline, speech recognition runs entirely on-device.
SteadyCue itself never receives, stores, or transmits your audio. We only receive the text output from the speech recognition service, which is used in real time for word matching and then discarded.
Google Drive access
If you choose to import scripts from Google Drive, SteadyCue requests read-only access to your Drive files via Google's OAuth system. We only access files you explicitly select in the file browser. Your Google Drive credentials are managed by Google's authentication service — SteadyCue never sees or stores your Google password.
How we store your data
Account data, scripts, and telemetry are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), hosted in the europe-west2 (London) region. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by Firebase. Access is restricted by Firebase security rules — you can only read and write your own data.
Scripts are also cached locally on your device using the browser's localStorage API, so the app works fully offline.
Third-party services
SteadyCue uses the following third-party services:
Firebase (Google) — authentication, script storage and sync, telemetry storage, web hosting. Firebase Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat — subscription management for SteadyCue Pro. Processes purchase receipts from the App Store and Google Play. RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Google Play Services / Apple Speech Services — platform-level speech recognition. Governed by Google's and Apple's respective privacy policies.
SteadyCue does not use any advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or social media SDKs.
Data retention
Your scripts and account data are retained for as long as your account is active. Telemetry sessions are retained for up to 12 months for debugging and product improvement purposes.
If you delete your account, your data will be removed from Firebase within 30 days.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can delete individual scripts within the app at any time. To request a full data export or account deletion, contact support@steadycue.com.
Children's privacy
SteadyCue is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we'll notify users via the app or email.
